CUPFA’S STATEMENT ON ARREST OF PROFESSOR H. HOODFAR

Statement on the Arrest and Detention of Professor Homa Hoodfar:

The Part-time Faculty of Concordia University join our Full-time colleagues in denouncing the unjust arrest and ongoing detention of Professor Homa Hoodfar.  We view her incarceration on charges of acting against the State of Iran as an affront to her human rights, as well as an attack on the principles of Academic Freedom.

Along with CUFA, the Canadian Association of University Teachers (CAUT), and our sister faculty associations throughout Quebec and across Canada, we call upon the Honourable Stéphane Dion and the Right Honourable Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to utilise all avenues and resources within their purview in order the obtain the immediate  and unconditional release and return of Professor Hoodfar to Canada.

In solidarity, we ask you to sign the petition in support of Prof. Hoodfar’s immediate release. Please click here: Academics in Support of Professor Hoodfar

On behalf of the Concordia University Part-time Faculty Association,
