Craig Morrison’s 22nd Annual Roots of Rock and Roll Concert, May 17

Craig Morrison’s 22nd Annual Roots of Rock and Roll Concert

Legendary Music Festivals: Newport Folk, Monterey Pop, and Woodstock is the theme of this year’s Annual Roots of Rock & Roll Concert, featuring Craig Morrison & The Momentz, Vintage Wine, and special guests Ray Farquhar, Samantha Borgal, Angela Galuppo, Melina Bikhazi, Rosalie Cerro, Terry Joe “Banjo” Rodrigues and Pat Loiselle.

The concert, with live music, stories, and images, will show the evolution of 1960s popular music, from the folk revival to flower power. Throughout the 1960s, the Newport Folk Festival featured folk artists such as Peter Seeger, Joan Baez, Peter, Paul and Mary, Ian and Sylvia, and Joni Mitchell, plus traditional acts and rediscovered blues legends. The 1967 Monterey Pop Festival helped usher in the Summer of Love. Headlined by the Mamas and the Papas, it featured the Byrds, Jefferson Airplane, Simon and Garfunkel, Otis Redding, Janis Joplin and more. The 1969 Woodstock Festival had an unprecedented audience of 450,000 and indelible performances by JImi Hendrix, the Airplane, the Who, Canned Heat, Country Joe and the Fish, Joe Cocker, Santana, Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young and others. All these performers will be represented in the concert, with songs such as: Where Have All the Flowers Gone – California Dreaming – Purple Haze – Woodstock – Piece of My Heart – Evil Ways – Homeward Bound – Bad Moon Rising – and lots more!
